Could there be a new world record price coming for a movie poster?
An original 3 Sheet poster from 1927′s Metropolis is currently being offered at the price of $850,000. According to the Hollywood Reporter, this Metropolis 3 Sheet poster is one of four in existance today.
Original Metropolis posters have pulled in very large prices in the past. The 1927 Fritz Lang classic is considered the original sci-fi film, arguably influencing the film genre ever since. The last time this particular poster changed hands it was sold for $690,000, which is the current record high price for a movie poster.

Expected to be one of the top family films of the Spring 2011 release schedule, Paramount Pictures is bringing us Rango, out in theatres on March 4th.
The animated comedy features the voice of Johnny Depp in the lead role, along with co-stars Isla Fisher, Alfred Molina and Abigail Breslin. Rango is a chameleon who has always aspired to be a swashbuckling hero. After always living in a terrarium, Rango ends up in a real-world desert, in an Old West town called Dirt. He quickly becomes the animal town’s lawman, strolling the streets as a sheriff-like character. The early buzz for Rango has been positive. In a suprising move, this animated movie will not be released in 3D, bucking the recent trend of similar film releases.
