Production is in full swing on the much-anticipated film adaptation of The Hunger Games. This week, EW.com has released some exclusive photos from the movie, giving Hunger Games fans an early peek at the film.

Is this the next Twilight series? Many in Hollywood think so. In case you’ve been living under a rock, The Hunger Games was the first in a series of three young-adult targted science fiction novels from author Suzanne Collins. And these books have gathered a huge following, much as the Twilight novels did.
The popularity of the books has of course led to big screen film adaptations of them, with The Hunger Games set to start production this spring in order to meet a targeted March, 2012 release date. The film will be directed by Gary Ross and will have a budget of $60 million. Lionsgate Entertainment, which purchased the film rights, will also release movie versions of the subsequent books in Collins’ series: Catching Fire and Mockingjay. Fans everywhere are waiting for the lead role of Katniss Everdeen to be cast, which should happen soon: some of the actresses who’ve expressed interest include Lyndsy Fonseca, Kaya Scodelario, Chloe Moretz, Malese Jow and Jodelle Ferland.
