Checking in with JK Rowling and Harry Potter

Wednesday, September 26th, 2012

Could we possibly see the return of Harry Potter? Well OK no new Harry books or movies but his world may return to readers everywhere. In a recent interview, author J.K. Rowling says she plans to return to writing for young people — and the author says she doesn’t rule out another book set in Harry Potter’s magical wizard world.

Rowling became the world’s most successful living author with her 7 Harry Potter books, and subsequent blockbuster movies. Rowling’s first book for adults, titled “The Casual Vacancy,” is being published next week, five years after the release of the last volume in the Potter series. “The Casual Vacancy” is the story of a local election that exposes deep rivalries and dark secrets in a seemingly picture-perfect English village.

Rowling states that her next book will be targeted at a younger audience, although a little older than Potter’s target demo. We could possibly see a return of Potter’s wizard world in that novel.

The Hunger Games Casting News

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2011

Time for a Hunger Games update! We now officially have an actress who will play the lead role of Katniss Everdeen: recent Academy Award nominee Jennifer Lawrence has landed the plum role.

The big screen adaptations of Suzanne Collins hit book series is expected to become a hugely popular film series, starting with the scheduled 2012 release of The Hunger Games. Social media and internet chatter had been active on the topic of who plays Katniss for many months but the guessing game is over. Jennifer Lawrence is hardly a household name (now anyway!) but she was nominated for an Oscar for her work in 2010s’ Winter’s Bone. No other Hunger Games casting news yet, but the film will be directed by Gary Ross.
