He made his first big screen appearance in Shrek 2 back in 2004, and now the character of Puss in Boots is getting his own spin-off movie.
Coming to theatres on November 4th, Antonio Banderas provides the lead voice, and he’s joined by co-star voiceovers from Zack Galifianakis and Selma Hayek. The story focuses on the early days of Puss, when he was a wanted criminal after robbing a bank with Humpty Dumpty. Don’t expect any famous green ogres in this movie though – Shrek does not appear in the film.
One of the most popular films of all-time is getting a special re-release. 1997′s Titanic will be coming back to theatres on April 6, 2012, which is the 100th Anniversary of when the Titanic made its first and only historic sea voyage.
Director James Cameron states “There’s a whole generation that’s never seen Titanic as it was meant to be seen, on the big screen.” The 2012 re-release will be out in 3-D, meaning it will be seen as literally nobody has been able to see it before so it will offer something new for die-hard Titanic fans as well as newbies. 2012 is also the 100th Anniversary of Paramount Studios, which is the producer of the film.
Is Neo coming back? The original Matrix movie from 1999 is one of the favorite scifi films of all time, while also being one of our top 10 best selling movie posters of all time. The Wachowskis brothers brought us two sequels in 2003, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions.
Now it appears that there might be more Matrix flicks on the horizon. According to Ain’t It Cool News, star Keanu Reeves met the Wachowskis over the holidays, and told him they had completed a two-picture script treatment. The brothers are also rumored to be considering 3D for the next films, including having met with James Cameron to discuss the pros and cons of 3D. Many Matrix fans were not happy with the first 2 sequels, feeling that the films didn`t live up to the quality of the original film. Perhaps that fan backlash is fueling the desire to once again reboot the series? Stay tuned for updates on this throughout 2011.

It did set a new record for one day take in October, with $21.8 M on its opening Friday night. The Labor Day long weekend unofficially marks the end of the summer movie season. This marks a good time to take a look back at Hollywood’s winners and losers from summer 2010.
This year’s winners: No surprise to once again see the Pixar/Disney partnership on this list – returns to theatres on September 17th in Toy Story 3 is the top film of the year with over $400 M in domestic ticket sales. The Twilight franchise shows no signs of slowing down as The Twilight Saga: Eclipse took in almost $300 M. Inception was also a big summer winner with $240 M and Oscar buzz. Other summer winners included The Karate Kid, Despicable Me, The Other Guys, Iron Man 2 and The Expendables.
The big question being asked in Hollywood board rooms these days is whether 3D is starting to lose its uniqueness. The inflated 3D ticket prices are keeping box office numbers up but are audiences starting to fade on the appeal? The disappointing ticket sales for several 3D summer movies says maybe so, including Step Up 3D, Cats and Dogs 2 and Piranha 3D.
