The Angels are back! This fall, ABC TV is rebooting the classic 1970s TV series Charlie’s Angels. The original series started in 1976 and made Farrah Fawcett a household name and arguably the biggest poster pin-up star of all time. Farrah’s poster today is still a huge seller: click here for Farrah Fawcett posters.
Charlie’s Angels was also made into two popular movies in the early 2000′s, which starred Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore as the Angels. Barrymore is now the executive producer of the new 2011 TV series version. The new show takes place in Miami and features a much younger, hunkier looking Bosley. We can also expect lots of action and great ‘eye candy’, which was the claim to fame of the original Charlies series.
Coming to theatres on August 5th, a new reboot of the classic sci-fi film series Planet of the Apes. It’s been over 40 years since the first Apes movie, perhaps best remembered for Charlton Heston’s classic line of “You maniacs! You blew it up!”
James Franco stars in Rise of the Planet of the Apes as a scientist whose genetically enhanced subject, Caesar, starts an ape rebellion against mankind. Andy Serkis and Tom Felton also star. Perhaps the biggest difference from the original Apes films is the animal stars of this version are mostly CGI generated, not the heavy make up monkeys from the original films. Check out the Rise of the Planet of the Apes trailer below and see what you think of this latest Hollywood reboot.
Actors receiving nominations include Steve Buscemi, Jon Hamm, Steve Carell, Jane Lynch, Tina Fey and virtually the entire cast of Modern Family in the Supporting Acting categories. For more information on the 2011 Emmy Award nominees, click here. The Emmy winners will be announced in September.
